Family Handbook
The purpose of our Family Handbook is to provide information regarding policies, procedures, expectations, and general information about St. Paul City School. To highlight a few unique qualities about our school:
BASIC SKILLS
St. Paul City School teaches the basic skills of reading, spelling, writing, and math. We also offers special services such as ELL (English Language Learners) and Special Education. All children receive a free and appropriate public education, challenging their abilities.
CHARACTER EDUCATION
St. Paul City School will stress character development. Universal values of peace, mutual respect, honesty, compassion, responsibility and justice will be taught daily in a deliberate way, as well as by example. Character building lessons and frequent school-wide assemblies will explore the values found in literature and history. Firm and fair discipline policies involving parents with their children will help students learn to work together and respect each other.
SERVICE PROJECTS
Staff will plan a variety of service projects for the students to participate in each year. Service projects provide an opportunity for students to express compassion and develop a habit of helping others. They are an essential part of our mission and the character education curriculum.
COMMUNITY BUILDING
St. Paul City School will emphasize community. The small size of our school, 2 sections per grade, with the low student to teacher ratios, helps school staff, children, and parents get to know one another well. Character building, school-wide assemblies will also build a feeling of community. It is our contention that good working relationships lay the foundation for all cooperative endeavors.
